All of Elijah's designs were polarizing and distinctive while making strong references to the past, he was always pulling from the best parts of knife history that have become iconic. The Horse Crippler was no different, a classic massive Texas style Bowie with a faux Keyhole handle.
Originally he wanted to make a full production Keyhole but swiftly realized that would bring the already pricey item over the threshold for a production knife, The Horse Crippler did use a clever construction style to conceal the full tang. The guard plate was machined from solid Titanium and fitted to the Carbon Fiber scale using the keyhole esthetic giving the knife an almost integral look from the profile. The blade was a huge precision ground sheet of D2 steel.
Elijah requested WE Knives to make 3 prototypes for him with different scales and finishes for delivery at Blade Show Atlanta 2019, there was some convincing involved due to the size of the knife and expense involved already with prototypes but they were happy to work with him to make this happen. They produced the 3 prototypes and had them ready for delivery at Blade Show Atlanta 2019, unfortunately there was some miscommunication at the WE Knives booth and one of the people working there that year ended up selling 2 of the prototypes to the public before Elijah could come pick them up. Elijah only received 1 of the 3 knives.

Sheath planning happened as soon as the design for the knife was locked.

Elijah received the Ramos sheath before even holding the finished knife.
Back from Blade Show Elijah had the Ramos sheath ready to go for carry. As you can see here the knife was being well used regularly the D2 would build up a patina over the years.
Elijah would go on to use and carry his prototype all over during his travels and would often be seen carrying the Horse Crippler on his hip happy to show off to anyone who asked. The blade seen here showing major wear and tear as the D2 builds up history.
